SENIOR MANAGER SEEKS TO IMPROVE EXECUTIVE PRESENCE AND LAND NEW JOB.

Challenge: Long term, 8-year manager sought new, bigger role and opportunities outside of current institution. She struggled with keeping others informed in project management and felt disgruntled with outside input and suggestions once projects were in the works. She felt safe and secure in her current position yet wanted to grow and achieve new career milestones.

Discovery: Working together, we identified her strong take charge and ownership strengths which successfully drives results. Yet, her behavior did not bring peers or facility into the loop, thus alienating others and, possibly, missing valuable input. Midway through our sessions, she was hired and promoted to Senior Director of Operations for a prominent educational institution. Here she faced immediate challenges in setting up all new systems and structures for the Leadership Institute, hiring new team members and engaging with a broad range of faculty for input on this new structure.

Outcome: We identified a 30-, 60-, 90-day approach which helped manage her drive to “do it all”, reminding her of the importance of patience and organization. She scheduled organizational knowledge meetings with key faculty stakeholders to gain value input as she set up this new institute.
